Phoenix Oyster (Pleurotus pulmonarius)

Phoenix Oyster (Pleurotus pulmonarius) is very similar to Pearl Oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus) but resembles the lung / trumpet shape and usually brown in color but sometimes these characters overlap and therefore it's hard to distinquish between them. Phoenix Oyster also grows on conifers and prefers warmer climates compared to Pearl Oyster.

 

Substrate: Straw, Hardwood  sawdust, Pine sawdust
Colonization/Fruiting Temperatures: 75-85F/50-82F
