Sordid Blewit is a somewhat smaller and less robust mushroom than the Wood Blewit, and with deeper violet colors and a thinner cap margin when mature. Sordid Blewit (Bleu Foot)(Clitocybe sordida), like the Wood Blewit, prefers high nitrogen and woody substrates, but grows much faster. Plant sawdust spawn it in early spring for same season fruiting. It seems to have a preference for layered hardwood and pine needle/pine chip duff mixed with layers of leaves and organic matter.
